Heidi Wuerthele
Heid Wuerthele

Heidi Wuerthele, owner & director of Dance Xplosion, has been dancing for over 30 years. Trained at the Gail Wildfong School of Dance, she studied the Cecchetti method of ballet and was examined by elite members of the Cecchetti Council of America. She’s trained in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, hiphop, and lyrical. Heidi danced throughout college while earning her elementary degree. She has her early childhood endorsement and taught in the public schools for five years before opening a dance studio. Heidi's strong knowledge of dance and classroom teaching experiences have provided her with the perfect combination to give children a structured and positive dance education. She has continued her professional dance development by taking master classes from the Alvin Alley Dance Theater, Rockette Sonya Livingston, Tap Dog Anthony LaCasio, hiphop artist Barry Youngblood--Just to name a few. Heidi has received several dance awards for both solo and group competitions throughout her dance career. In 1992 and 1993 Heidi held the title of Miss Gladwin County using a tap solo as the talent component of the pageant. In addition to her own competitive experiences, Heidi has trained numerous competitive dancers at various studios. Her students have earned overall high point awards & national championship titles. Heidi prides herself on making dance a fun and enjoyable experience for students of all ages and abilities.

Miss Kerry
Miss Elise

Kerry is a member of the professional modern dance company, People Dancing, where she has worked with choreographers Christina Sears-Etter and Suzanne Willets-Brooks. Kerry graduated from the University of Georgia, where she minored in dance education under the direction of Bala Sarsvati and Rebecca Enghauser. Her early training included classical ballet, modern, jazz, and lyrical dance at the Woodstock School of Ballet. During college Kerry worked with many influential choreographers and instructors, including Karen Eliot, of the Merce Cunningham company; Alberto de Saz, of the Alwin Nikolais company; as well as Molissa Fenley, Sean Curran, Dean Williams, and Travis Gatlin. She danced in the university’s pre-professional modern and aerial dance company, CORE, and her choreography has premiered at venues in Georgia and Michigan. Kerry also works as a music instructor for oboe students of all ages. In addition to Dance Xplosion, Kerry also teaches dance technique at Randazzo Dance, Arts in Motion, and Dance Arts of Chelsea.

Miss Hannah
Miss Anna

Hannah has been dancing for 17 years and in that time has studied various forms of dance including: tap, jazz, ballet, modern, lyrical, and hip-hop. She is currently a student at Eastern Michigan University where she is working on a major in Public Relations and minors in Dance and Management. At EMU Hannah is a member of Dance Forum, Golden Key Honor Society, and a board member of the Public Relations Student Society of America. Over the past few years she has performed in and choreographed for various EMU Dance Program productions, as well as performed with a community theater group Curtain Up Productions, in Lockport, NY.

Miss Adrienne
Ms. Adrienne
Adrienne has danced for sixteen years and has experience in tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, and hip-hop. She is currently studying elementary education and dance at Eastern Michigan University, where she is also involved in Dance Forum and the Holman Learning Center. Before attending Eastern Michigan, Adrienne studied dance at the Moving Company in Sandusky, OH under the direction of Cheryl Ohlemacher and competed and performed nationally. As a member of the Eastern Michigan Dance Program, she has performed in Swan Lake, Bill Evan’s Craps, Julianne O’Brien Pedersen’s Lurk and There, There, There, and Frank Chavez’s jazz piece Grusin Suite. She has also participated in the American College Dance Festival since 2005. She is excited to be teaching at Dance Xplosion!
Miss Terri
Ms. Terri
Miss Terri has been a dance instructor for many years.  She is a Qualified Cecchetti instructor and holds her Licentiate Certification.  In addition to ballet, she has taught Polynesian, jazz, tap, Spanish and acrobatics. Down River Civic Ballet, Southgate Community Players, Washtenaw Dance Association, Cecchetti Council of America and Dance Masters of America are a few of the performing arts organizations to which she has belonged during her teaching career. She owned and operated her own studio for years.  Since closing her studio in 2003, she has been teaching for other studios in the Wayne and Washtenaw County areas. Miss Terri is currently a member of the National Executive Board of the Cecchetti Council of America and serves as its Membership Chair.  She continues to study dance and has recently begun to train other teachers in the Cecchetti Method. Miss Terri resides in Ann Arbor with her husband Paul.  She is co-owner of Maxwell Solutions, LLC, an engineering and educational consulting firm.
Miss Kim
Ms. Kim
Miss Kim is entering her second year at the University of Michigan and strives to expand her involvement in dance in the future. Her passion for the art started at the age of three when she enthusiastically took her first tap and ballet classes. She soon demonstrated her dedication by joining the company at her studio, performing three seasons with them before moving to Ann Arbor. Once in Michigan, Miss Kim furthered her dance career with Dance Alliance Repertory Company in Saline. She has trained continuously in tap, ballet, jazz, pointe, lyrical, hip hop, and kickline. She also has experience in Flamenco, modern, and ballroom dancing. Through her local studio, she has taken lessons in New York at Broadway Dance Centre and Steps on Broadway. Miss Kim has also traveled to LA for summer intensive workshops coordinated by LA Dance Magic and Chicago for LA Dance Magic Conventions. In addition to competitions, benefit concerts, guest performances, and recitals, Miss Kim has gained experience in eight performances of the Nutcracker. She is currently taking dance classes through the U of M dance department.
Miss Beverly
Mrs. Beverly
Miss Beverly has been teaching dance for the past 25 years. She received a BA in Dance from Bowling Green State University. She remained in Ohio teaching for local studios and participating in community theater with The Fort Findlay Playhouse and the Findlay Light Opera. She taught dance in Ohio public schools for 15 years with Arts Unlimited, a program based out of Bowling Green State University that prepares teachers and students in movement perception and aesthetic elements of live performances. She moved to Michigan and received her MFA in Dance Performance from The University of Michigan. She performed with Intersect Dance Theater, Feet With a Beat and Barbara Neri & Dancers. She has taught for Swing City Dance Studio in Ann Arbor and Dance Steps Studio in Tecumseh. She continues to teach for Dance Alliance in Saline and for Ann Arbor's Rec & Ed program. Beverly is a second degree blackbelt with the American Taekwondo Association and lives in Tecumseh with her husband and two boys.
Miss Megan
Ms. Megan

Megan started her dance career at the age of nine. Her training includes ballet, modern, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical, hip hop, and contemporary. Megan danced competitively for eight years and has been awarded many honors including judge recognition, several overall placements, and many high standing achievements and scholarships. In 2012, Megan was asked to serve as assistant and demonstrator for Hollywood Connection Dance Convention. She is also a member of Pure Existence Dance Company, based in Dexter, MI. In addition to her performing success, Megan has also been recognized for her choreography including an invitation to choreograph for the Cathy Roe Ultimate Dance Fashion Show. At Nationals 2012, Megan was awarded best student choreography of the competition. Megan is a student at Eastern Michigan University majoring in dance. She has received many scholarships for dance as well as academics. Megan is excited to explore the different realms of dance and immerse herself even further into the world of choreography!
Miss Ida
Ms. Ida
Ida is a graduate from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor of science in dance. As she graduated with honors, she was also awarded with “Dance Major of the Year,” the “Eastern Michigan University Music and Dance Service Award” three times, and served as the Eastern Michigan University Dance Forum President. During her final year at EMU, her modern work “More” (a co-choreographed piece), was selected to perform at the American College Dance Festival where it was very well received. Having taken master classes from directors and dancers of the Martha Graham Dance Company, Stephen Petronio Company, Noism08, and the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, she has also attended Bates Dance Festival in Maine, studying modern and jazz under Carol Dilley and Cathy Young. Having danced for over 20 years, Ida has both performed and competed nationally and is experienced in ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, musical theater, pom, and tap, having studied at Rose Marie Floyd’s Studio of Dance, Juliana’s Academy of Dance, and the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble Center for Dance. It is Ida’s love of dance, children and teaching that has naturally led her to pursue a career in dance education.
Miss Doris

Miss Doris has been dancing since the age of 4 and is trained in hip-hop, modern, jazz and ballet. She recently graduated with Honors from Eastern Michigan University and received her Bachelor of Science in Dance Performance. During her training with the EMU dance program, Miss Doris has worked with influential choreographers, including Daniel Gwirtzman, and Christopher Huggins. She has also attended numerous master classes with directors and dancers of the Martha Graham Dance Company, Stephen Petronio Company, Batsheva Dance Company, and Suzanne Farrell Ballet, just to name a few. As a member of hip-hop dance companies, Dance2XS and F.Y.L., Miss Doris has also had the opportunity to work with renowned hip-hop choreographers and instructors from L.A. and Chicago, including Ian Eastwood.
Miss Laura
Ms. Laura
Ms. Laura started dancing at the age of three and has over eighteen years of dance experience. She is highly trained in Ballet, Jazz, Pointe, Tap, Hip-Hop and Lyrical. Laura was an active member the Dance Alliance Repertory Company out of Saline. She has taken part in numerous recitals, benefit concerts, and competitions. During high school Laura traveled with her dance company to New York where she took master classes from various professional choreographers. Laura enjoys working with children and plans to further her education by completing a Bachelor of Arts degree. She is currently enrolled at Washtenaw Community College studying photography and Spanish.
Ms. Tonya
Ms. Tonya
Ms. Tonya has been dancing for over 16 years. She has studied all forms of dance including ballet, tap, lyrical, Jazz, and Hip Hop. Studying the Cecchetti method, she has examined and now teaches the art form to children. She has danced at Fine Arts Academy and Dance Alliance. She also danced for two and half years and was an officer for Eastern Michigan University Dance Team. She has danced and cheered competitively for several years, and performed nationally in Orlando Florida. She has also danced in New York City, for Piston’s games, and was a Michigan Twister’s semi-pro football team dancer.  Tonya has a strong passion for teaching dance and has taught for several local studios. Tonya is currently at Eastern Michigan University pursuing a degree in Special Education.
Miss Sarah
Ms. Sarah

Ms. Sarah, started her dance career at a very young age under Sherry Blaha; Sherry’s Academy of dance Carleton, MI.  She has performed and competed in all areas of dance, including jazz, tap, lyrical/contemporary, modern, and ballet, receiving numerous national overall awards.  Sarah was an active Company member, and began her teaching career at Sherry’s. Sarah attended Central Michigan University, Mt.Pleasant. While at college, Sarah was a principle company member of Orchesis Dance Theatre for 4 years.  She is a CMU 2005 Bachelor of Science, Psychology graduate.  More recent achievements include, traveling and performing for 3 years as line captain and lead dancer for Aaron Radatz, Illusionist/Magician.  She traveled the United States performing for all ages and audiences.  She’s performed at Cedar Point, Hershey Park, Magic Castle LA, and Busch Gardens, where she was lead actress for “Nightscares” 2005 Halloween season.  Other credits include shows aboard Royal Caribbean International Grandeur and Explorer of the Seas, and “Dream along with Mickey” Walt Disney World Equity dancer.  She is currently focusing on teaching and choreography, her ultimate passion.

Miss Tera Sky
Ms. Sarah

Miss Tera Sky has over 25 years of dance experience. She has trained in Ballet, Jazz, Pointe, Modern and Lyrical. Tera Sky danced in an elite high school dance company where she had the opportunity to choreograph solos and large groups, as well as study and performed at an intense Cecchetti ballet studio for 14 years. Tera Sky danced throughout college at Western Michigan University and continued dancing after transferring to Eastern Michigan University. She was an active participant in the EMU dance department earning several key roles in their performances. Most recently, Tera Sky completed an intensive two week dance study in Seattle, WA, earning her a certificate in creative movement for children.
